5 years ago, I picked up Tim Ferris’ 4-Hour Work Week and desired to live the nomadic lifestyle.
and just a year ago, I was going through a heartbreak that I even prayed to erase every memory of it—like the Black Mirror episode.
I was impatient and wanted instant change.
Still impossible, I did the typical “change your environment” cliché instead.
I booked a 1-way ticket to the other side of the world…
.. and haven’t gone back.
1 year forward – I realised,
Wasn’t this my dream back then?
How ironic that when we don’t think about it often does come true?
Here are 3 key lessons I’ve learned from this shift in my life:
- Things happen when you least expect it. What you have now might be your younger self’s dream—sometimes even better.
Only when you connect the dots, do you then realise.
When you’re feeling impatient, understand that there’s still something to be worked on. Keep going, have faith and it will be yours. ~ Romans 8:28 - There’s pain before glory. Life is a narrative arc. You’re creating a story through your intentions.
What you desire shapes the story and the associated pain.
My pain “to be broken” wasn’t pretty – but it was needed for my growth.
The precursor of my big shift. - You are the Asset you are building. Regardless of who you are serving, and what the outcome may be, give your fucking best.
You’re a product.
The more you invest in yourself, the better the opportunities will come your way.
Looking back, I am a completely different person now.
I dive into more discomfort in this season of my life, jumping from 1 city to another – confident that for every discomfort comes blessing.
And that blessing… is growth.
Pain + Reflection = Progress
