For the first time, I am as sad as leaving Montreal as I am excited to visit NYC. Mostly because of the “risk”, and I am loving my new setup so far.
On the exciting side, I get to visit New York City, again. Where it all started everything for me. If I made it there, I can make it – anywhere.
I am excited to be with Roan and John again, who are like family to me. It’s good to have this break, in my nomad journey. A familiar sense of home.
Moving Out
My days recently were fixated on packing and moving out to my new place. From Griffintown to Downtown Area. Balancing with work was a challenge.. and for my weekly video – suffering. Non-existent. It’s been over a month now and it bothers me. Though, I have been shooting scenes here and there. As the backlog piles up, it became even harder to start and get back at it.
Get over it Abie, stop overthinking and be okay with what you have for that timeline. Done is better than perfect. When I come back, I’ll do a monk mode for 3 months. Focus. Focus.. and maybe a few social events to keep my sanity.
I need to write more. It’s the core and starting point of anything. Plus, I wanted to be more articulate and have more clarity in my thoughts.
Balancing work and travel
People asked me, how do you balance travel and work?
The truth is, I can’t.
If I am focused on one, I won’t be at my peak for the other. I can hit my baselines, sure.
But I won’t be able to produce extraordinary results.
I realise, with what I am doing, I don’t think I am still travelling. I am in fact.. living. I am no tourist anymore who discovers new places every day. I am trying to build my routines, my home & myself.
A nomad cycle.
You explore… you prolong, and someplace you’d like to stay longer than the others.
And even consider moving.
At one point, you will miss the stability and you will miss home.
A new home?
I may have reached to that point… So far? Montreal is ticking my boxes.
I have come up with this list, as my standards on
What makes me want to live in a city.
- A LEGIT dance school and community ✔️
- Convenient Location, close to cafes and coworking spaces ✔️
- A lovely apartment that feels home ✔️
- Bike-friendly paths ✔️
- Positive People ✔️
- A Christian church + community (pending)
Only one is lacking, but it can be managed through watching online. I hope I’ll find one soon! I am feeling positive.
That’s it for now. I’ll see you in NYC, baby.
With love,
Abie
