Lows, after Highs

Language · missed connection · loneliness

The unbothered queen became bothered.

An unusually difficult day filled with rejections ~ which hit harder because of how good things have been lately.

01Language Barrier

I participate in a dance community here ~ but my French fluency isn't there yet. My recent dance partner displayed visible discomfort during our pairing. Communication broke down in the moments it mattered most.

It was a wake-up call. I need to intensify my French study if I genuinely want to integrate into this community ~ not just participate in it.

02Missed Connection

A budding friendship unexpectedly stalled. Someone I thought was building something real with me simply stopped showing up ~ no explanation, no closure.

The disappointment wasn't dramatic. Just quiet. The kind that sits with you.

03Loneliness

On hard days like this, I miss my trusted friends more than usual. The kind of people you can call without context and they just get it.

Managing loneliness while building a new life somewhere new is its own kind of work. Nobody warns you about that part.

“Growth often comes with discomfort. Rejections and unmet expectations are temporary experiences that contribute to personal development.”

Still here.

Hard days are part of it. The lows come after the highs ~ that's just the cycle. The goal isn't to avoid the hard days. It's to keep going through them.

Temporary. Keep going.
