Finding Asia Wherever in the World

Florence · Italy · Vietnamese Food · Travel

Italy ~ the land of pasta, pizza, and everything carb-loaded. Since arriving, I've been indulging in authentic Italian pasta daily, living my best pasta-loving life.

But as much as I adore pasta, my Asian soul will always crave the flavors of home. Legit Italian pasta is on another level ~ and yet.

01Pho Pho, Firenze

You can take the girl out of Asia, but you can't take Asia out of the girl. So I did what any homesick Asian would do ~ I hunted down an Asian restaurant.

My BnB host, who happened to be a restaurant manager, invited me to their Vietnamese food spot. Perfect timing.

I can't even begin to describe how much I needed that meal. Maybe it was the longing for familiar flavors. Maybe it was just that damn good. Either way ~ it hit different. Like finding a missing puzzle piece you didn't even know was missing.

02Epiphany Moment

I think I prefer Vietnamese food over Chinese food now.

Spring rolls = Pure Magic. Perfectly fried.

Manager's discount, a rose cocktail, and a warm bowl of soup. If that's not a love language, I don't know what is.

03Next Stop: Rome

Filipinos will always crave rice ~ no matter where we are in the world. Asian food is life. And Rome is calling.

What am I most excited about? Not the Pantheon. Not the Colosseum.

Jollibee.

My Airbnb is a five-minute walk away. That excites me more than all the Roman ruins combined.

Asian food is life. No matter where.

Hallelujah, Chickenjoy ~ here I come.
